Dr. Charles Hammer will be leading tours of the old Grange Hall building on Saturday, May 5th, at 10 am. We had the priviledge of having a tour a year ago, and were captivated by the sense of history in that building. Our favorite was the hand-written inventory on an old kitchen cupboard door (i.e., 1932: 5 plates, 10 cups). Just couldn't help wondering who had written that, and what kind of life they'd had.
What will others in town think? That it's an old building past its time? Let it go? Or will others see something in it that bears saving - and maybe even repurposing - picture small concerts, meetings, whatever. The building may officially belong to the Monroe Historical Society, but we are betting it really belongs to the people of Monroe.
Eileen & Bryan, as webmasters, are the initial authors/creators of this blog. But we sincerely hope others will take over and we don't have to hear ourselves "talk." We bet you don't want to hear us talk, either.
